FORTE MARECHAL LUZ

Located in Cabo Joao Dias, next to the sea entrance to the harbour of Sao Francisco do Sul, the “Forte M. Luz”, started construction in 1909 under the direction of Alberto Eduardo Becker and deployment of the 5^th Independent Battery Coast Artillery on November 1915, having as its first commander Victor Francisco Lapagesse.
The old Forte, later hosted the first battery of the 5^th group of Artillery of Coast, motorized and disabled in 1973, giving place to 28^th Artillery Group “Companha”, which remained there until 1977, when he was transferred to the municipality of Criciuma.
The ministry lobby no. 340 on 2 July 1994 created the Artillery Section of the “Forte Marechal Luz”, adds up to the board of Distribution and Effective and has determined the adoption of gala uniform, used in 1915 by the 5^th BIAC.
